Don’t look back. You’re not going in that direction

They say hindsight is 20/20. It certainly seems to be in the case of Taber’s school pictures that we received last week.

He looked so handsome and grown up in them. He’s smiling and just looks so incredibly happy. I could not wait to show my husband the photos. We both gushed at how great he looked. I mean, he looked like he was literally beaming. I knew I had to pop that baby in the frame and hang it on the wall.

Only, when I took out all the previous school pictures, I was taken back. I noticed how much his eyes had changed over the years and especially the dramatic difference in them from last year to now. How did I not notice the change that was taking place? It was like his eyes where telling a story.

When I think back to how he must have felt and the frustration he must have had last year and the years leading up to it. Not feeling perfect somedays, trying to see and just cope with the everyday tasks and activities. It’s no wonder why he seemed frustrated at times. I would be too.

Now, look how far he has come. His school picture is painting one thousand and one words.
